Description

Extremely rare original first pressing from March 1933!

Original shellac 78rpm record, featuring two of the most historically significant German recordings of the early 1930s - issued by Kristall-Schallplatten GmbH, Berlin-Reinickendorf.

This is the very first release of these two pieces ever issued on record, produced immediately after the recording session in early 1933. 

A-side: “Horst-Wessel-Lied”

Performed by S. Sturmbann XII, Untergruppe Ost, Berlin, conducted by M.Z. Führer Martin Ewers, with quartet vocals. The earliest surviving recording of this historic march, pressed just weeks after its composition gained national attention.

B-side: “Deutschland, Deutschland über alles”

Performed by Großes Blas-Orchester, conducted by Carl Woitschach, with quartet accompaniment. A beautifully recorded and stirring rendition of Germany’s national anthem from the early 1930-s Berlin studio sessions.

The record comes in a beautiful original Kristall company sleeve - early brown illustration design featuring 1930s leisure and culture scenes.

CONDITION VJM grading: E / E (-)

Both sides retain excellent gloss and play loud and clear with bright tone. A few faint sleeve scuffs and minimal surface marks typical of age, but no deep scratches or skips. Labels are clean with vivid gold print and retain the original “Einlage Nr. 8” label from the 1933 distribution batch.

A museum-grade artifact - the very first 1933 Kristall pressing, issued at the dawn of the Third Reich. Exceptionally rare in this condition and complete with its matching original sleeve.
