LP is in Near Mint condition.
The thick lustrous vinyl is nearly flawless, without marks scuffs,or scratches of any kind. The fidelity is superb,with no distortion, pops, clicks,or background noise of any kind.


Jacket is in Near Mint condition. Original heavy and glossy jacket is in Near Mint condition. There are virtually no scuffs, or blemishes of any kind.This is an autographed copy from Parlan to a friend and includes a (PROMO STAMP) on back.This lp is stored in the original inner sleeve. Horace Parlan has done the near-impossible throughout his career. He has had a partly paralyzed right hand since his childhood yet he became a jazz pianist. While his mobility is limited, he has developed distinctive chord voicings and his own style which emphasizes his left hand while also finding a role for his right. Despite his handicap, Parlan held his own in groups led by Charles Mingus, Lou Donaldson the Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis/Johnny Griffin quintet and Rahsaan Roland Kirk and has been a fixture in Scandinavia for decades. His sessions for Blue Note during 1960-63 are considered some of his most rewarding sets. Headin' South puts the emphasis on Parlan's playing in a quartet that includes Ray Barretto on congas and he excels on such numbers as "The Song Is Ended," "My Mother's Eyes" and "Low Down.".Like Django Reinhardt, Horace Parlan developed his own way to play music and this 1960 set shows just how rewarding a style he has. Heading South is one of his finest recordings.
