Description
A 1960 UK Stereo Test Pressing of Beethoven violin concerto played by Yehudi Menuhin and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Constantin Silvestri. This is a two disc single sided recording and both discs are in NEAR MINT CONDITION. The outer sleeve is front laminated and both bottom corners have what appears to be water staining. But there is no laminate lift or rips or tears and the flip backs are flat and have not lifted. There is pen/pencil marks above the ASD at the top right corner. I would say the outer sleeve is in very good plus condition. The inner sleeves are the Emitex paper/poly lined type and one is dated 30 SEP 1960 and they are in Excellent condition. What makes this recording so special is that it pre-dates the very 1st pressings of this recording. I have been correctly informed by a more knowledgeable friend that there were just a HANDFUL of test pressings made of this recording, pressed from the original Master copy/ acetate. So that the sound engineers, record producers, and executives could compare the sound quality to the Master copy/acetate before they would proceed with production of the later 1st pressings. So these TEST PRESSINGS are even rarer than I thought. So that is what makes this recording so MEGA RARE. I have never had one of these before in the forty something years of collecting records and at the time of writing this there was not another for sale across the net. I offer a 14 day refund service if not satisfied. Buyer pays return postage. If this item sells it will be sent as 2nd class signed for post at a cost of £3.90 within the UK. If it sells abroad the postage will be more depending on the country.
