THIS IS A RARE TRIPLE VINYL LP BOX SET RELEASED ON THE 'TROJAN' RECORD LABEL

THE VINYLS ARE IN EXCELLENT++/NEAR MINT CONDITION WITH A NICE SHINE TO THEM

A fine selection of dj cuts, going back to the years 1970 to 1976 compiling most of the leading DJ stars and producers from that time. 

Features surreal chanting and bass heavy dubs with funky and spacious mixing styles. "Cool Breeze" by Big Youth is a storming version of "Stop That Train", with eerie spliced and cut vocals fading in and out of the mix. Big Youth also features with the outstanding "Screaming Target", a version of the classic "No No No" with a hypnotic and driving bass line. Prince Far I did his own heavy dub cut of this some years later, and Dub Syndicate released a version with a digital bass and tabla on a limited edition white label.

Other stand out tracks are URoy's classic early scat vocal "Wear you to the Ball", which Adrian ON-U Sound Sherwood has name checked as one the tracks which encouraged him to commit himself to reggae music.

 Also the Rockers style gets serious, with two storming versions of Keith Hudson and Horace Andy's depth charge vibration track, "I'm Alright". Jah Whoosh chants on the first cut, putting in a powerful performance. Some two years after the releases of this track, Jah Whoosh went on to record some outstanding tracks for Adrian ONU Sherwood, working alongside the mighty Creation Rebel, Prince FarI and Bim Sherman. Dino Perkins chants on the second cut in fine style. Jah Whoosh offers another blistering track here, "Riding Melody", the rhythm reminiscent of Johnny Clarke's "Cold I Up" or rhythms laid down by Linvall Thompson.

"Jack of My Trade" by Lord Comic begins with a spoken intro in which we are warned in Biblical style, "What does it profit a man, to gain the whole world but suffer the loss of his own soul?" Alpha and Omega sampled this vocal in the 90's to excellent effect in their own spiritual digital style.

The mighty and characteristically serious Prince Far I makes his presence felt here with the drum and bass threat of "Deck of Cards", in which he interprets the images on the cards as symbol, metaphor and spiritual meditations.

U Roy's "Behold" is one of his finest tracks, featuring a scat style chant in which he calls for a return to Ethiopia. The backing track has a rolling snare and rare groove funk style, with a beautiful flute which wouldn't sound out of place on an old school track by Hamilton Bohannon.

The sleeve design is attractive too, following a kind of Pop Art aesthetic with excellent collages of Big Youth, U Roy and original label designs!
