No, the record is not made out of chocolate, but it is all about Hershey chocolate products. Produced by the prestigious NYC Ogilvy & Mather ad agency, this album is entirely devoted to promoting Hershey Chocolate products - the original Hershey Milk Chocolate and Almond bar; Krackel; Hershey Instant; Mr. Goodbar; Reese's; Syrup and Rally. Side A presents the commercials/jingles with music (acoustic folk, soft rock, pop, funk, gospel-tinged R&B) and a voice-over. Side 2 presents a medley of the aforementioned without the voice-over sales pitch. The album has been completely play-tested and sounds fine. And yes, these are the original commercials you probably heard if you were around in the 1970s. On side 1, the dates "early 1970s" and "1971" are mentioned in the voice over, so I'd say this album was produced in the mid-1970s.
This album is exceedingly rare. It was likely only produced as an in-house trade item, certainly not for the general public or sold in stores. It is unlikely that many were produced, so you may never see it again. There is no information about it anywhere, and I've tried every kind of search I can think of.
The distinctive cover is made to appear as a Hershey Bar wrapper in chocolate brown and silver. The cover has some minor wear, but overall is in excellent condition. The record has a couple of light, minor surface marks that had no effect whatsoever in the play-test.
