PLEASE BE AWARE YOU ARE PURCHASING A VINYL RECORD, NOT A CD!!Maybe it's because I grew up less than 100 miles from where these cats cut what might just be the greatest garage band album of all time, but I can always put this hot slab of 60's rock on my vinyl spinner and dig it!
This is the third copy of this lp I've come across in a dozen years of record collecting, and visually (both vinyl and jacket) this is probably the weakest. But it still rocks. The jacket shows overall handling wear, the vinyl is covered with fine scratches and sleeve rubs. That said, it plays much better than it looks. Nothing serious like skips, stops or loud pops. On our audiophile level system (VPI table, Rega arm, Denon cartridge) there's some background hash that stays mostly in the background, only rising to the level of distraction on a couple of cuts. If you like garage band records, aren't overly picky about surface noise, you'll likely be cool with it.

"ABBREV'S - "Here Come the Abbrev's" in mono on American Division 1001.Private pressing by an excellent garage band from Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Released in 1966, they do 2 excellent originals and some fine covers. 10 vocals and 2 instrumentals. One of their originals, I Still Broke Her Heart, is a haunting mid-tempo song that has flourishes of psychedelia. Their other original, True Fine Lovin' is a blues rocker in the vein of Muddy Waters, Lightnin' Slim and Jimmy Reed. Excellent, amplified (near fuzz but not quite) guitar break on that one. They turn Blueberry Hill into a slow dance grinder of an instrumental, with lead Farfisa organ, very different than Fats' hit version. Four covers of Rolling Stones songs, some of the Stones' best. See full track list below. Members were Joe Morgan, Frank Joyner, Wally Overman, Terry Jernigan, Al Williams and Charley Joyner. According to the liner notes (written by Buddy Moore of WRMT), they formed in 1964, so they'd been together long enough to get it right in the studio and they did.
Besides the two originals, the record contains a fairly typical repertoire of garage band classics. Louie Louie is in the vein of The Kingsmen's hit but, on the other hand, their version of Steppin' Out is more akin to the style of the early Yardbirds than Paul Revere and the Raiders. Tell Me is a emotive cover of the one of my favorite Rolling Stones songs while their cover of Satisfaction is over 4 minutes long. Their 3rd Stones cover is As Tears Go By, done in the style of the original. Wipe Out shows off their surf guitar chops very well. They also cover Arthur Alexander's You Better Move On and The House of the Rising Sun. The 12th track, The Last Time, is full of energy and swagger, a fine cover of another Stones' hit from the mid-60's."

All NCVinyl records are sight graded under bright light for condition. Our grading is very strict. Please reference below before bidding.
Vinyl
M (mint): only applies to records that are sealed.
NM (near mint): looks like new. may have one or two hairline scratches.
EX (excellent): lustrous vinyl with only a few light scratches or light scuffing
VG+ (very good plus): clean and shiny, with light scratches and/or light scuffing, and audible background clicks and pops. an enjoyable record.
VG (very good): often played, with signs of wear and use. many light scratches or a few heavy ones. Background noise present,
occasionally competing with music
G (good): heavy scratching, coupled with consistent background noise. may skip on one or more tracks.
P (poor): deep scratches and likely skipping.
Jacket
M (mint): only applies to records that are sealed, or with enough shrink wrap to protect original
condition.
NM (near mint): looks like new or next to it.
EX: (excellent): very clean, though corners may be bumped, or edges slightly worn.
VG+ (very good plus): presentable, but obviously used, with significant corner, edge or ring wear.
VG (very good): more significant wear, such as seam split; cut-out, sticker or writing - but still
functional and attractive.
G (good): lengthy seam splits, heavy writing or other serious flaws.
P (poor): considerable damage, such as water stains, tears, etc.

We are not responsible for any taxes, VATs or fees related to importing our items.
PACKAGING
To prevent splitting, we ship all records outside the jacket. All records are packed in a new record mailing box. We ship twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays.

RETURN POLICY
All records are guaranteed to be in the condition stated. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, simply return it to us within seven (7) days of receipt and we will issue a refund, postage excluded. Sealed items must be returned sealed in order to be eligible for a refund.
