HERBIE HANCOCK "Takin' Off'" Blue Note 4109, DG, P, RVG, Laminated Mono Vinyl with two 45s from LP
This is the first edition, 1962, "Van Gelder"-stamped, Deep Groove, Laminated Cover, Deep Groove (one side) "P"-pressing of HERBIE HANCOCK's "Takin' Off'" on the "New York USA" labels of Blue Note BLP 4109. Musicians include Herbie Hancock, piano, Freddie Hubbard, trumpet, Dexter Gordon, tenor saxophone, Butch Warren, bass, Billy Higgins, drums.
VINYL plays with low to medium level surface noise (i.e, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments) with occasional loud ticks and pops, but the instruments are very dynamic, strong and present with clean transients, powerful extension and full tone. Crackles present in ballads. No Skips. No Distortion. No Groovewear. Instruments are very clear, clean, dynamic. Good vinyl gloss. Many hairline marks, at least six feelable. No warps. The "New York USA" labels are clean, some aging, spindle wear. See photos. Original inner sleeve included.
BONUS with LP: 45 from Takin Off': Blue Note 45-1862 w Van Gelder stamp:"Watermelon Man"/"Three Bags Full" Visually Graded, very clean, possibly unplayed.

The LAMINATED COVER is in very good condition, with worn corners. Lower right corner stained. Cut out hole top right. No seam or spine damage. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC, 43 West 61st St., New York 23" back jacket shows some water marks, top, left and bottom. Discoloration. Please see photos.
This LP (only) was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters).
