HERB ELLIS – NOTHING BUT THE BLUES – VERVE 8252 – TRUMPET – EX/EX – MONO
Recorded on October 11, 1957, this Verve session features Herb Ellis on guitar, with Roy Eldridge on trumpet, Stan Getz on tenor, Ray Brown on bass and Stan Levey on drums. SIDE A: PAP’S BLUES; BIG RED’S BOOGIE WOOGIE; TIN ROOF BLUES and SOFT WINDS. SIDE B: ROYAL GARDEN BLUES; PATTI CAKE; BLUES FOR JANET and BLUES FOR JUNIOR. The Label has the Trumpet logo and it is a MONO recording.
I have graded both the vinyl and the record jacket as EX for the following reasons. The vinyl is clean of any marks. There is some sign of wear around the spindle hole. The vinyl retains its original luster. There is a name sticker on the label of Side B. The record jacket is in excellent condition and the only reason for the EX grade is some wear on the top seam and a small taped seam there as well.
