Description
This is a very rare antique jazz album from 1954. One of Quincy Jones' first productions, this recording features the smooth, tonal voice of Helen Merrill backed by an all star jazz band featuring Clifford Brown, Jimmy Jones, Oscar Pettiford, Danny Banks, Barry Galbraith, Osie Johnson and others. I PICKED THIS COPY UP FROM AN ESTATE SALE A FEW YEARS BACK AND HAVE TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE OF IT SINCE. AFTER SEARCHING THROUGH THE CURRENT, COMPLETED AND SOLD LISTINGS ON EBAY, DISCOGS, AND OTHER SITES, THIS IS THE NICEST COPY I'VE SEEN ONLINE.
GRADING
Cover; The cover is in excellent (EX) condition. This is the ORIGINAL thick heavy cardboard cover with pasted on front cover and printed on the back. The spine is clearly legible and all of the seams are clean without a single split or tear. The only concerns are a small and superficial mark on the front cover on the microphone (see picture) and a slight amount of discoloration to the white paper on the sleeve, but the condition is very impressive for a 60+ year old record.
Vinyl: The disc itself is in extremely nice condition. I do not generally use the grade NM, but this disc truly deserves it. I cannot see any scratches whatsoever on the vinyl. This disc is obviously very well taken care of and played seldomly. This record comes with the original inner jacket, but I've placed the minty record in a scratch-proof soft plastic sleeve. The labels are clean and undamaged with minimal spindle wear.
SHIPPING
The record will come shipped in a standard LP mailer with two thick cardboard stiffeners and bubble wrapped. The record will be separated from the cardboard sleeve during shipping to prevent damage, and everything will come in a thick plastic sleeve.
