Description

HEATHER BLACK Lucille b/w Come On And Get It US 45

Texan ROCK band with GAYLAN LADD

Heather Black – Lucille 7” (orig. US STEREO Heart Rock Records No. 1001971, PROMOTIONAL ISSUE)

On offer here is an EXTREMELY RARE original US PROMOTIONAL issue of HEATHER BLACK’s “Lucille” single, with “D.J. COPY” printed on both labels.  The A-side is a highly energetic cover of the LITTLE RICHARD hit, whilst the b-side is a heavy rock rendition of a track that originally appeared on the obscure 3rd AVENUE BLUES BAND album (UNI/Revue 1969).  “Come On And Get It” has some of the most extraordinary no-holds-barred axe work that I have ever heard.  The guitarist goes absolutely ape-sh*t, like it is his last day on the planet!  YOU GOTTA HEAR THIS!!

This 45 is notable for including Gaylan Latimer (aka GAYLAN LADD) on vocals.  Former Australian musician DOUG LAVERY (ex-Questions, Running Jumping Standing Still, Doug Parkinson In Focus, Valentines, Axiom) was also a member of HEATHER BLACK in late 1973, although it is unclear if he actually performed on these recordings.
