Description

From a recent purchase of archived records from the old KWK record catalogue of 78's. Very Hot jazz from 1929, a great player and the very rare original pressing with a young Jack Teagarden in an all-star band of musicians BEFORE they were famous, which is why this is one of the most sought after discs from the early jazz era! Some very mild fine paper scuff from storage and some shallow sparse hairlines, but the grooves don't show a lot of greying, rather nice condition, as it was kept with the collection in sealed cabinet in heavy green card stock covers. Some signs of play, with the clean labels showing some light spindling, with the slight wear not really audible, considering these 20's era, deep grooves pressings were pretty tough anyway! There is a skip in the last ten seconds of Basin Street Blues, unfortunately. Some Victrola did a number on the very last grooves on that side. I will still upload the program up to that point in the interest of full disclosure. 
 At the bottom of the page you'll find a link to an audio files or both sides in HD, unfiltered, from the disc, using the proper stylus after a careful cleaning.  I mastered at full frequency as you rarely ever hear the high end information in these pressings on the reissues, when in reality they were there, but when remastering they would rather sacrifice tone and parts of the signal to ensure it's entirely devoid of surface noise, so they roll off the high frequencies way down to the midrange. It's sad that the masters are long gone or in most cases not even usable, so now these recordings are the best examples of these famous recordings, sounding better than the reissues, surface noise and all.
