Description
Acetates are the rarest form of record, and this title is extremely historic in that it became the signature of Lemmy's new band, marking his departure from Hawkwind. It also has a unique cartoon sketch on the label, which is contemporaneous with the production of the acetate. I don't know who did it, perhaps someone can recognise the distinctive writing? When new, acetates deliver the highest sound quality of any record, however they are easily worn or damaged. This disc has a range of surface marks on the playing side, which while visually prominant are not deep and do not affect it's playing. No skips or jumps when I tested it on purchase. In fact, the sound quality remains surprisingly good - I've heard new singles (pressed form cheap grade vinyl) that sound worse! The "B" side of the disc is unrecorded, and was originally completely smooth. It looks like it has been glued to the wall or something, however, and has (glue?) residue and small patches of exposed metal as a result. The grey patches in the left lower quadrant of the second picture are exposed areas of metal. It is not difficult to imagine the scenario in which all the marks and doodles were accumulated, and they can be considered a part of the rich history of that period.
