Comment: CONTAINS UNISSUED PERFORMANCES. This is a wonderful and unusual session--kind of a cross between Miles Davis' "Birth Of The Blues" and Oliver Nelson's "Blues And The Abstract Truth." In fact, Mobley had "Birth Of The Blues" in mind when he penned these tracks [while in prison]. This is a full band performance with only Mobley taking solos. Arrangements by Duke Pearson.
