Description
On the auction block now is an awesome Greatful Dead picture disc. It is one of the rarest things the Dead has even done. Very, very few of these pop up. And when they do, they go pretty quick! It is a wonderful example of the Greatful Dead, and their iconic artwork. It is the picture disc of the "Steal Your Face" live album, from 1976. Originally, the record was a two record set, with bonus copies of a third LP entitled "For Dead Heads", in few limited edition sets. I am not sure which one this actually is, as I do not play ANY of my picture discs on a turntable. I belive that picture discs were made as promtional items, and are enjoyed for their artwork, and not neccesarily for the music. As with any picture disc, it CAN be played, but the early ones (such as this one from the 1970's era) usually sounded bad. With that said, it CAN be played, but is not recommended, as they were not really made to be played.
It has absolutely NO information on it, anywhere. It is double-sided, with the same red, white and blue lightning bolt in a skull picture on both sides. It is in pretty good condition, for being so old. There are only a few light surface scratches, and no deep scratches, marks or gouges.
This is truly a great gift for collectors of the Greatful Dead memorabilia, and their music. This would look great in a frame hanging on the wall! It is instantly recognizable, and it's very nice in color. A great item, at a great price!
