Description

Legendary jazz & acid jazz guitarist Grant Green's autographed original Verve album, "His Majesty King Funk". Grant signed the inside of the gatefold in vintage ballpoint pen, "Too my brother Mel from Grant Green". The album has seam splits, a little discoloration here and there but the autograph is very frameable. The LP itself is in good condition. Grant made some legendary Blue Note jazz sessions and then veered into funk/acid jazz, having started practicing R&B early in his career. His sound was described as "lithe, loose, slightly bluesy and righteously groovy". Grant Green died tragically young after years of drug problems. Many of his recordings were not released during his lifetime. Grant Green's autograph is extremely rare today. It is mentioned in the biographical book, "Grant Green" that Grant signed autographs with fans noticing his exceptionally large hands. Please click on the scans to get a nice closeup view.
