You will notice that all references to ‘Columbia records’ on this album have been blocked out or stickered. This US pressing on Columbia was not officially released in Europe, but as the "Columbia" name is protected in Europe (Columbia UK is a completely different record label and has no connection to Columbia US) American Columbia releases were issued in Europe on the CBS label. And if there was no official CBS release the only way to distribute it in Europe was to sticker the US release, usually not with plain stickers but those bearing the CBS logo - this is one of those that got away! 

Although the Great Society only existed for one year (1965-66) their style helped define the San Francisco sound. The brand was founded by brothers Darby and Jerry Slick and Jerry's wife Grace. One of their first recordings was "Somebody to Love," but didn't do much until it was re-recorded by Grace Slick when she joined Jefferson Airplane. The rest as they say is history. 

Sleeve:  US thick gatefold sleeve, all edges and corners straight - solid proud fully readable spine. Light  signs of age related handling and age spots only (see photos) EX-

Labels: Clean (see above), a couple of small spider lines only, KT tax code, solid VG+ or better

Vinyl: Nice bright, clean and shinny vinyls that retain their original gloss - no scratches of grove-wear. A few light wispy lines only visible under a strong light, primarily from sleeve removal - these feint lines don't interfere with play- graded EX

Audio: nice separation, clean sound/ crisp recording with no interruptions: no pips, pops or crackle - graded EX

I strictly adhere to the Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide using one + or - for addition guidance:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. 

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
