Description

Georgia Yellow Hammers....(with black guitar/fiddle duo The Baxter Brothers) "Oh Mary Don't You Weep" Bw "Gonna Raise A Rucus Tonight" Victor 20928 Cond. E This is a clean copy. You will not be disappointed. GREAT. 1927

Records are from my personal collection and I will miss them. They have been graded honestly and as accurately as possible.  I listen to them...with great pleasure and enthusiasm.....hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

This is a little more expensive but worth it. There may be an extra charge for a big batch of records. Europe is approx.20.00 to 25.00 and Japan is approx. 25.00 - 30.00 Not sure about Australia...but I would guess it's close to 25 or 30. I'll check if the time comes. SHIPPING WILL BE MORE THAN THE 4.00 THAT IS LISTED. THEY WON'T LET ME PUT MORE THAN FOUR BUCKS THERE. Apparently Ebay has decided that records ship "media". The group often played with Andrew and Jim Baxter from Curryville, GA (also in Gordon County). Curryville was also home to music legend Roland Hayes. The Baxter's recorded with the Georgia Yellow Hammers from time to time.Andrew Baxter's unique style of fiddle is heard an early recording of a band favorite entitled "G-Rag". Interestingly enough, the Baxter's were African Americans. This is an interesting note due to the time period. The band released one of the top selling records of 1920s southern music with 1927's release "The Picture on the Wall"/"My Carolina Girl".[1] The 1927 recording session with the Baxter's took place in Charlotte, NC, and was a rare integrated session, uncommon even through the mid to late 20th century. [2] The Baxter Brothers were a well known duo for the time in their own right around Northwest Georgia.


After fielding some of your comments.....I'm not 100% sure of the baxters....but it sure sounds like it to me and based on the prvious paragraph I think I could be correct in my assumption.

I stand corrected: From an expert..just so you know the Baxter brothers do not play on this record. Andrew Baxter plays on one side of one Georgia Yellow Hammers record, "G Rag".This record has Bud Landress on it not Andrew Baxter.
