Over the next several months we have the pleasure of listing a spectacular vinyl collection of over 6000 LP's. This collection consisting of mostly Jazz but also Blues, Folk ,Rock, Soundtracks and Classical was kept in amazing condition. Most of the records were played once, transferred to tape for listening and then stored away in cliplock sealed bags in specially made cupboards. The overall condition of this collection is sublime to say the least and whatever items I list as Near Mint you can be assured that it was probaly only ever played once!! Over the last few weeks you may have noticed some of the lovely jazz & rock titles I have listed, these are just the tip of the iceberg here. I hope you enjoy seeing these listings as much as I have in offering them.

Blues fans, loyal as they might be to classic superstar historic figures such as Blind Lemon Jefferson, will always enjoy being exposed to lesser-known artists who are still creating the old-time country blues despite whatever might pass for musical progress all around them. From this point of view this collection is indispensable. It presents tracks by a slew of Georgia-based artists, none of whom have large discographies. Some of the pieces are absolutely unique, such as the nearly atonal fiddle and vocal track "You Can't Play Me Down" by George Hollis, the ending of which practically collapses in what sounds like a horde of invading children. Other tracks follow the well-known country blues trails, meaning a solo performance with vocal and guitar and sometimes harmonica, the rhythms lively, and the licks simple but effective. "16 Snow White Horses" is an intense performance by Bud White that brings to mind the best of both Mississippi Fred McDowell and Lightnin' Hopkins. Like the latter man, White does not use a bottleneck or slide, but instead snaps out melodic blues riffs that are funky enough to empower a Rolling Stones record, and probably have considering these old goats' habit of swiping such material. Other tracks do feature slide playing, as well as intricate fingerpicking, falsetto vocalizing, and just about any country blues approach one could imagine.

Tracks: Jessie Clarence Garmon - Going up the country/ George Hollis - You can't play me down/ Bud Grant - Blues around my bed/ Willie Rockomo (Bruce Upshaw harmonica) - Love her with a feeling/ Bud White - 16 snow white horses/ Green Paschal - Trouble brought me down/ Cliff Scott - Long wavy hair/ Bruce Upshaw (Albert Yarborough, guitar) - I wanna love you/ Emmit Jones (Jim Bunkley, guitar) - Oh red/ Cliff Scott - Sweet old tampa/ Bruce Upshaw - Rosilee/ George Fife and drum band - Old hen cackle/ J.W. Jones and james Jones - Buck dance/ Bud Grant - Bud Grant's hen strut/ Precious Bryant - Rock me/ George Hollis - Ain't going to Germany/ Dixon Hunt - Got on my travelling shoes.
