George Harrison, All Things Must Pass, Near Mint, Japan Pressed, 3-LP Box Set
Apple, EAS-67107, stereo, release date unknown, circa 1970 or later
Discs: Near Mint; labels are marked "Mfd. By Toshiba-EMI LTD, Japan". Cover: Near Mint, with original inner sleeves with lyrics. The back of the box has a gold-embossed Apple logo, with "Made In Japan" in Japanese and English. The title and catalog number are gold-embossed on the spine.
This edition of this classic album is SO rare, you won't find it in the various collector's databases. "Recorded and originally released in 1970, this triple LP album was Harrison's first solo work since the break-up of The Beatles in April that year. This original vinyl release features two LPs of rock songs, plus Apple Jam, a third disc of informal jams. Often credited as rock's first triple album, it was in fact the first by a single act - the multi-artist Woodstock live set preceded it by six months. In regards to the album's size, Harrison stated: "I didn't have many tunes on Beatles records, so doing an album like All Things Must Pass was like going to the bathroom and letting it out." The album was critically acclaimed and, with long stays at #1 in both the US and the UK, commercially successful. It was certified 6x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2001. The first track, I'd Have You Anytime, was co-written by Harrison and Bob Dylan, and Harrison covers Dylan's If Not for You on side two. My Sweet Lord was issued as Harrison's first solo single, and became the subject of a controversial plagiarism lawsuit due to its similarity to the Ronnie Mack song "He's So Fine", a 1963 hit for the New York girl group The Chiffons."
