Description
For sale is this extraordinary and very scarce vinyl LP of GEORGE COLEMAN - BONGO JOE on Arhoolie Records 1969 in stunning condition. As per discogs this record is a 1969 US Pressing of this cult record. George Coleman was a street musician in San Antonio, Texas. He recorded only one record (this one) in 1968 with producer Chris Strachwitz that has become a cult in the intervening years. This copy was retailed as an import in the UK in the 1970s by the legendary J.G. Windows record store in Newcastle and is in near mint condition. The catalogue number is ST 1040. The matrices are hand-etched as follows:
Side One: ARHOOLIE 1040A Side Two: ARHOOLIE 1040B RE2
Condition*:
The sleeve is graded a strong EX. It is perfect but for slight wear to the corners and a sticker to the front. The reverse has a slight dark scuff at the top. Overall a stunning example of this sleeve.
The disc is in true NEAR MINT (NM) condition. Under harsh light nothing worse than a couple of paper retraction marks are visible. The record has been played through from start to finish, plays better than most new records and is one of the most exciting sounds you will ever hear. Overall a really beautiful copy of this very rare cult record.

I am just selling a small number of records. I have given an honest appraisal based on careful visual inspection and thorough play testing. I do try to describe all significant faults and where possible photograph them and I certainly won't intentionally hide anything. Please read the description carefully, look at the pictures and make your own mind up. The grading scale I have used goes from G to NM with VG+ as par. In other words: Good (G), Very Good (VG), Very Good+ (VG+), Excellent (EX) and Near Mint (NM). Anything better than that would be Mint and would be listed as new. Anything worse than Good I probably wouldn't be selling.
