Description

Very rare SEALED U.S. Charisma Records pressing of Genesis' fifth studio album "Selling England By the Pound."
Released in late 1973, "Selling England" was Genesis' first U.S. album to be distributed by Atlantic Records, who have been their home in the States since.  Unlike their subsequent Atlantic-era albums, however, "Selling England" was initially pressed in the U.S. with labels from their U.K. distributor, Charisma Records (catalog no. FC 6060).  Upon its reissue in 1980, "Selling England" would later be pressed using Atlantic labels, with references to Charisma removed.  Sealed U.S. Charisma copies of the album are VERY rare as a result!
Potential buyers should note two things before bidding on this item.  The first is that, for unknown reasons, this particular copy of the album was designated by its distributor as a "cut-out" - the two slices in its cover are visible in the photos.  Second, while this LP is on Charisma and not Atlantic, it appears to be a second-edition copy of the album.  First-edition copies of the album noted its suggested list price of $5.98 on the cover's spine (coded as "0598").  This copy does not, likely because Atlantic raised its list price on new single-LP releases to $6.98 in early 1974.
