This Genesis Promo Single
“Looking For Someone” / “Visions Of Angels”
(GS1/GS2)
is extremely rare and highly collectable
I expect that any of these singles that do go on sale are bought by collectors and will rarely go back on the market. The chances of obtaining a copy decrease with time.
I bought this single from a second hand record shop in the early 1970s, long before it became such a collectable item. Shortly after I bought Trespass; I have therefore hardly played the single, playing the album instead.
Visually
The Charisma Pink Scroll labels on both sides are clean and unmarked, with only the merest hint of any spindle marks. Please see the photographs below (the white specs are dust)
The playing surface on both sides look clean and bright but on close examination there are a few minor marks and scratches mainly on the Visions of Angels side.
The punched centre on this copy is intact and has not been removed.
Playing
There is a background crackle throughout on both sides, mainly noticeable during quiet parts of the track, but much less noticeable on the louder parts. I believe this is mainly the pressing of the single rather than how it has been treated.

There is no specific sleeve for this single. It will be supplied with a plain generic protective sleeve.

Postage to the UK s included in the price. It will be sent well packed and protected. I will use a tracked and insured service, probably Royal Mail. The item will need to be signed for on delivery. Postage outside the UK will be more, please contact me for a price.
If its more convenient, the buyer can collect from Halifax / Huddersfield areas of West Yorkshire with the option of cash on collection.
Background information to this single
I understand that “Looking for Someone” / “Visions of Angels” was intended to be the first Genesis single on the new Charisma (Pink Scroll) record label. This promotional single, with the Serial Number GS1/GS2, was issued in late 1970 and was presumably given away to radio stations to promote the Trespass LP (which was released in October 1970). Normally promos stay with radio stations and are hardly ever played.
There is a rumour that a few copies of this promo single were also given away by Genesis manager Tony Stratton Smith at his Sunday Special Night Gigs at The Marquee Club in London but then the record company staff asked for them back.
“Looking For Someone” / “Visions Of Angels” single was never actually released for sale. “The Knife - Parts 1 & 2” was issued instead as a single from Trespass in May 1971.
There appears to be two different versions of the single, one with a punched centre that can be popped out for use in a jukebox and the other with a solid centre.
