THE NUCLEUS Lp by GALT MacDERMOT. Original pressing on KILMARNOCK RECORDS (KIL 72001), from 1971. One of MacDermot´s funkiest albums, and not easy to find at all. Actually, this KILLER LP remained in complete obscurity until the mid-90’s, when it resurfaced and has quickly gain CULT STATUS. Music played by a small combo that includes Galt McDermot on keys, Ted Dunbar and Billy Nichols on guitars, Gordon Edwards on bass and the always great BERNARD PURDIE on drums. Expect COOL FUNKY RHYTHMS and slow burning SOULFUL JAZZY GROOVES troughout the whole record. Includes the track “Golden Apples – Part II”, sampled by JAY DILLA on “Mash” from his DONUTS album, but the wax is packed with lots of SAMPLING POSSIBILITIES. Check out the HEAD-NOD BLUESY FEEL of “Duffer”, the SOULFUL PIANO LINES of “Golden Apples – Part III”, the DOPE FUNK of “Fishing” and “Golden Apples – Part I” and the ORGAN in “Black Street Nightmare” and “Bedroom”. An asset to every DJ, producer or plain music lover´s collection. RARE LP. Check the LONG soundclip below (NOTE: I made the soundclip from the copy being auctioned).

Vinyl is in EX condition (has a few light scruffs). I bought this copy sealed, opened it and played it no more than 5-6 times. Still plays nicely with some light surface noises (check soundclip). The dope POP-ART style sleeve is NM, in shrink (see picture).
