Description
Gabrielle - Dreams Original White label (Tracy Chapman) 12” Extremely Rare. This is a copy of the rare, long-deleted Original issue 3-track 12” single by top selling UK soul singer Gabrielle :
A-side : Dreams
B-side : Dreams [Swing Mix] Dreams [Accapella]
It was released in 1991 on the ‘Victim Records’ label (cat.no. VIC – 33), and comes in a plain white die-cut card sleeve.
This was originally recorded in 1991 by Gabrielle as a demo with a sample of the guitar of Tracy Chapman's recording of ‘Fast Car’.
Produced by Victor Trim, it was initially a limited release on the ‘Victim Records’ label before being picked up by reggae distributors ‘Jetstar’. The track began to receive some airplay, but was deleted after objections by Tracy Chapman to the sample used.
The song subsequently was picked up by an A&R man at London's ‘Go! Beat Records’ and they contacted Gabrielle. After signing her, the track was re-recorded without the sample and became an international hit. It entered the UK chart at #2, which at the time was the biggest entry for a debuting female artist, and is Gabrielle's biggest selling single in the UK, selling over 500,000 copies. N.B. Although marked as Used, the record and sleeve are in Excellent condition, and the vinyl is in very good condition
