Hello- I'm Bill, and over the next few weeks I'll be selling off my treasured record collection, a course of action forced on me by an imminent move and enforced retirement. I've collected music all my adult life, and will be sad to see it all go . My tastes have varied over the years, as you'll see, but folk and rock have been the backbone of my collection.Over the next few weeks there will be some rarities appearing, believe me! All records will be in at least EX condition, and a lot of NM's too. I'm loathe to use NM, once it's played, it's played, but I try to stick to the RC guidelines, even if my grading is too severe! All records are inspected under a good light, and none are cleaned, only brushed. I know everyone has their own favourite cleaning methods, so why deprive you of the pleasure?(Jan 06)
Now back after a longer than expected hospitalisation and recovery, I’m fit and back on course. Many apologies to those of you who have been waiting to see what comes next. Hopefully this weekend’s offerings will satisfy!......Bill. (Apr 15 06)
This is getting like a diary! A word here about my postal charges. Some international buyers are saying that my charges are too high. I make no profit on the post.In fact since I started selling my collection, I have subsidised the international side by £38 !! I send by international signed-for, and a single record to France costs me £8.66. Further afield costs a damn sight more!!
The charges are clearly listed , so why query it after you’ve bought the item?
99% of my international buyers have been superb, but the odd whinge makes this all seem like a bit of a chore!
OK- moan over! I’m not really a miserable old git!
As we get into May, I’m mixing things up a bit. Some blues, lots of folk, of course, and some rock too!
I’ll soon be starting on my extensive ‘DONOVAN’ collection- lots of 1st presses etc, and some superb copies!!
This weekend I’m listing some of my rarer albums- some with only 100 pressed!!
Some of these records NEVER come up for sale, and are so rare that RC guide don’t list them. This is one of them!!
ONE FOR FANS OF GROUNDHOGS, JOHN MAYALL, OR JOHN LEE HOOKER, OR JUST BLUES FANS, OR EVEN THOSE OF YOU WHO JUST COLLECT IMPOSSIBLE-TO –FIND RECORDS.
THIS IS DEFINITELY ONE OF THOSE!!!!!
ON CLEVE RECORDS, IT’S SO OBSCURE AND VIRTUALLY UNHEARD-OF- THIS IS THE ONLY COPY I HAVE EVER SEEN OR HEARD OF.
In 1968, Groundhogs and John Mayall supported and backed John Lee Hooker on his British Tour. This album was recorded in London in 1968, and released on Cleve Records in 1972- nowhere else but this tiny label, and in such small numbers !! RC Guide don’t even mention it. AMG refer to it as a small obscure label, with no information other than the recording year.
This copy is in superb condition too!!
The cover, in heavyweight card, is unlaminated, but still very tidy, apart from a punched hole in the corner. Just a little corner wear, edge wear, this must grade EX at least.
The vinyl is better than EX both sides, with only tiny scuffs and a few wispy hairlines.
The labels are very clean, with no visible spindle marks.
VERY, VERY COLLECTABLE!!!!
One not to be missed!
