If you love jazz, are fascinated by American music history and still spin vinyl (as we do), this is an offering you ought to consider seriously.  Each of the nine box sets contains four red vinyl LP's in high quality sleeves.  This is not the complete Franklin Mint collection, but it is certainly an extensive survey of American Jazz.

 

Each set includes an excellent background booklet with notes on the performers and selection and with detailed session notes for each track.  In addition, many of the sets proved a four-page "Music Collector" newsletter with a variety of articles.  The recordings come from the archives of the Institute of Jazz Studies.  The newsletter in the first box set includes an article on the background of the entire project, written by the Director of the Institute, Dan Morgenstern.

Condition   Vinyl: Most LP's Near Mint, a few have minor scuffs, a couple in the Bebop box had some cloudiness on the surface.  We did not look at every LP, but the ones we examined appeared unplayed or seldom played.  We did some spot plays on two LP's with minor scuffs and felt those played very well.  Keep in mind that these tracks are sometimes recorded from old masters or records and have surface noise from the original source.  Overall, we think a serious collector would be very satisfied with the condition of this set.  Covers: Some nicks and scuffs but still in very good shape.  The bindings and corners are strong.

SIZE  12" LP.  33 1/3 RPM.

SHIPPING   We can combine shipping with other LP's we are listing this week.  This will be the heaviest item in the shipment.  The extra charge for an additional LP would be $.50 (US Media Mail).  See below for general information on our shipping policies.

SALES & SHIPPING INFORMATION

PAYMENT:   We accept payment through PayPal, personal check or money order from domestic customers.  We wait until payment verification or final check processing before shipping.  We accept PayPal only from international customers.

SHIPPING:  We are usually able to ship within 3 days of payment verification.  With rare exceptions, we ship through the United States Postal Service, and we try to offer the most appropriate postage categories.  We make insurance optional on many items and require it for offerings of higher value or for those more susceptible to breakage.  We encourage winning bidders to consider insurance on all items.

COMBINED SHIPPING:  We sometimes specify combined shipping discounts with our listings, but we will offer such discounts in many other cases even when not pre-quoted.  Assuming that multiple items can be appropriately shipped in one box, we begin with the charge for the heaviest item and add between $1 and $5 for extra items, depending on weight and additional packing material needed.  The added charge could be more for unusually heavy or large items.  International customers: your combined shipping is different and hard to quote ahead of time, but we will offer discounts whenever possible.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS:  Bidding from international customers is welcome!  We accept PayPal payments only from other countries; we do not accept checks or currency.  As noted above, we will combine shipping for international customers whenever possible and include the savings in our shipping charge.  Because there are so many different international rates, we cannot quote the combined shipping rates ahead of time.  Also, please be aware that we do not mark items as "gifts" or report lower sales values on customs forms.  We are happy to have sold a wide variety of items to our international friends and to have received good customer satisfaction feedback from them.

RETURN POLICY:  We have a 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy!  Returns are accepted for refund within a 7-day period of the receipt of the merchandise.  We will pay return shipping when defects or item characteristics were not properly noted in the original sales listing.  In other cases, the buyer pays return shipping.  Returns must be received in the same condition as when the item was sent. Most of our transactions are trouble-free, but we suggest you contact us if a problem does arise so we can mutually try to arrive at a satisfactory solution.
