The anthemic choruses are some of the band's greatest qualities and here those are used to full force. The fast-slow alternation is done extremely well in Braveheart, The Bruce is a punishing and dark slow song, but the speed hymns are the ones that slay the English (remember, SCOTTISH pride): Rebellion is their eternal anthem, but The Dark of the Sun or Scotland United are some headbanging monstrous beasts of the highest order. And there is the gentle ballad about the Scottish queen imprisoned in England. Well, my friends, that's called shivers. In fact the whole album is.
