Posting to Russia: Yes, I do post to Russia. But delivery can take up to 4 to 6 weeks from the UK. So please be patient. I will submit a tracking number to the winning bidder, and when the packet arrives there it can be followed online using the Russian post website.

ALSO: I now apply the Ebay ‘2-day’ rule for non-payment to keep things moving – cash-flow is important for any small business. I will always keep my P&P prices as low as possible, and even after yet another Royal Mail price hike from April this year, I have NOT raised my prices and will never compromise on solid, safe packing that is invariably heavier than most you will get. My P&P offers probably the best value-for-money for vinyl records available, and I even will pay for full insurance on any record that sells for over £100 at NO extra cost – that is UK and abroad. Also I aim to post the very same day after payment is received. You WILL see the difference when my packet arrives.

Label Conditions: All SIX are little short of immaculate: ultra clean, fresh and attractive with any spindle traces tiny, faint and hardly any – indeed record three appears to have none. This challenging set also very well pressed and offering the highest sound quality. All labels are of the same top quality as per the picture.

Cat Number: K 66019.

Mode / Speed: Stereo / 33.3 rpm.

Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Weight of these Records: 107 / 105 / 119 grams. Not the heaviest pressings, but more typical of Warner at this time. All pressed on ‘pure’ vinyl, better that than heavier with recycled material. All six sides offer lovely clean sound and devoid of surface noise, crackle and pressing issues many suffered at this time.

Rarity: Fairly scarce. Although not a very first pressing, this is still very early. The green labels were replaced by the more eye-pleasing colourful Burbank format in 1973.

Brief Info: An expansive triple album recorded in various European countries and venues during 1972. A lot of new songs are included as well as a few previously issued ones. Although live recordings, there is minimal sound of any audience with little to remind of the fact, so the songs can really be enjoyed for the music with no background sound or dialogue of any note. The usual long improvisations are included that defined the legendary Grateful Dead live sound, and this hardly played set offers top sound throughout.

Cover Grade and Format: EXCELLENT: or very close to. An unlaminated double gatefold (opening up to around three feet) with matt, smooth surfaces. Only three of the six faces are printed on, the other three are a plain cream colour. Printed and made in England by Shorewood, all three original inner sleeves are included, these being a basic plain white type.

Cover Front: A little gentle discolouration and mild rim darkening/impression that such covers have little chance in avoiding over such a long period. Gentle fine edge crease traces and the bottom left corner with a very small split of just a few millimeters and a crease. Any cover holding three records will always be under pressure, but this one has faired well overall, as has the predominately white artwork.

Cover Back: The back is similar again with just a couple of small and light surface scuffs on the bottom edge, also a fairly light press mark. Not a great deal to find fault with the corners on this panel.

Other Main Faces: The only other printed face has the cartoon boy pushing an icecream into his forehead, this has very little wear or ageing and really looks impressive. The three interior non-printed off-white faces have the odd mild mark or blemish, but very little on surfaces that could hardly be more revealing. To me, it appears this cover was made on a budget and rarely will a cover like this not be printed on all surfaces.

Top Edges: All solid, neat and unsplit with any hint or rubbing light and mainly near the right corner. Being white anything registers little.

Bottom Edges: These storage edges have mild hints of rubbing, again they are white, so with lesser visual impact. Again, all solid and unsplit.

Right Edge(s), and Type: The front is closed with a plain edge, this has a little gentle compression but overall quite neat with just a little rubbing to the fold. The back entrance for one record is clean, mostly sharp with little wear, any burring or thickening minimal. The other two inside entrance edges are similar, the odd light burr trace but mostly neat and quite crisp. ALL edges are guaranteed untrimmed or enhanced.

Spine and Text: Quite solid and very wide, straight with minimal compression and folded square, so the edges meet up very closely together and parallel. This can be folded either way to show which back face you choose. All text is near perfect and unworn and very well centred. These thick spines are often crushed or flattened, this one remains erect and robust overall.

Corners: A little tip creasing and some rubbing, again being white, it has lesser visual impact. Quite fine to very fine shape retained.

Cover Summary: Clearly a difficult cover in all respects, and this a highly respectable example. One that could prove difficult to find much better. This still attractive item should please many collectors.

The Inner Sleeves: EXCELLENT: at least, ALL three have no edge splits which is a surprise on a set like this where records can more more easily. Plain unlined solid white inners, a little edge creasing but little else. These mirror-image trio all have the same text and have aged little.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EXCELLENT to EXCELLENT(++): a very fine visual set that are very clean with excellent shine and fairly solidly pressed. Under bright light, ultra fine and whispy surface marks are seen with no penetrating stylus marks seen on any of the six sides. The third disc is little short of as-made with barely a blemish seen at all. Visually super records that should please many collectors.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or minuscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: All three records play even above their high visual grading with very little to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Any surface sounds are minimal indeed and these are exceptional clean pressings for a fairly difficult album that have some very quiet passages, all typical of Grateful Dead albums. The odd gentle trace or sporadic tick near impossible to avoid over music of this duration, but few copies will outperform this still early pressing significantly I feel sure. I am certain these records have hardly been played and nothing of any note spoilt the play-grade experience. This long set will prove difficult to find significantly better and can be strongly recommended.

Now one of the most established sellers on Ebay and still offering the finest and most accurately described and graded records I can find. The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my new VPI-17 Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
