GOV'T MULE “Dose” 2 lp Allman Brothers Band M-

1998/USA/Evil Teen Records ETR 10011-1…here’s a clean original 2lp set of this monster slab of hard rockin’ riffin’ blaster. Guitar played by the master himself Warren Haynes whose played with just about everyone by now, and of course most famous for his stinging leads provided for the Allman Brothers Band! The thick mandala style gatefold cover is in clean Excellent condition, the left corners are bumped and have slight wear, there is a bit of very light spotty wear on the top seam(centre), looks clean and sharp with no splits, delete or other issues, looks great! Both records are in M- condition and play with excellent fidelity! Includes both custom inner sleeves as well. This is a great addition to any collection! Please check my auctions for other rock, and psych lp's, good luck and thanks for looking!

When the Allman Brothers Band reformed in 1989 in response to the popularity of the Dreams box set, Warren Haynes was added on lead guitar and Allen Woody was added on bass. The two shared a love for '60s power trios, like Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and James Gang. Haynes, Woody, and former Dickey Betts drummer Matt Abts came together as Gov't Mule during Allman Brothers breaks. They released their debut album Gov't Mule in 1995, which was followed by Live from Roseland Ballroom, released in 1996. When it became apparent that the Allman Brothers were not planning on recording any new material, Haynes and Woody left to concentrate full-time on Gov't Mule in 1997. Dose, the studio follow up to their first studio effort, was released in early 1998. They were joined by members of the Allman Brothers, the Black Crowes, and Parliament/Funkadelic for their 1998 New Year's Eve concert. This was released in both a two and four CD version as Live ... With A Little Help From Our Friends. The band exposed some of their roots with covers of Neil Young, Free, Traffic, Jimi Hendrix, Little Feat, Black Sabbath, and Mongo Santamaria (via John Coltrane).

In February of 2000, the band released Life Before Insanity to critical praise. Many thought that this would be Gov't Mule's breakthrough album. However, Allen Woody was found dead in New York City in August of that year. On September 21, 2000 a benefit concert was organized called "One for Woody" to raise money for his daughter's education. The Allman Brothers, The Black Crowes, Phil Lesh and Friends, Jimmy Herring, Edwin McCain and other friends of Woody and Gov't Mule also performed at the concert. Haynes and Abts considered breaking up the band after Woody's death, but continued to do limited touring in the Fall of 2000 supporting Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals as an homage to Woody. The tour was named "Smile at Half Mast Tour" in reference to a poem Haynes wrote for Woody's funeral. At the "One for Woody" performance and subsequently at other shows, Haynes began appearing with the Allman Brothers Band again. With Dickey Betts' departure from the Allmans, Warren came back full time to the band at the beginning of 2001 and has continued splitting his time between the Allmans, Gov't Mule and for a period Phil Lesh and Friends and the reformed Dead.

NEAR MINT: as stated near Mint!, or Mint Minus, same thing, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean

EXCELLENT: not much below near Mint, may have a delete hole and/or a minor defect or two not visually detracting from the cover, the vinyl will appear shiny and in clean condition with very minor defects not affecting the sound, still very clean and very collectable!

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal cover wear and/or delete/splits, still visually appealing, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much

VG+ a little more cover/ring wear and delete, splits etc., the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects, both cover and vinyl no matter the condition, I also play grade the records on high end equipment and will give an honest play grade as well as visual grade, considering the number of records I buy on line my grading is very conservative and fair.
