GOREFEST - Chapter 13 LP (clear vinyl with white/red splatters)
The 5th album ''Chapter 13'' by the Dutch band GOREFEST was at the same time the last prank in the first phase of their work before they disbanded a short time later in the end of 1998.
"Chapter 13" with its 13 tracks shows that the guys have definitively given up their early death metal sound. Frontman Jan-Chris De Koeijer still grunt vigorously into his mic in the 52 minutes, but the songs now bear less the stamp of brutal death metal than MOTÖRHEAD & Co and the playing of guitarist Boudewijn Bonebakker became also increasingly melodic.
In general, the guitar work in particular is extremely variable and original, the drumming is once again outstanding, and in principle every headbanger who loves robust metal music & is open-minded should have a lot of fun with the album.
If you can categorize ''Chapter 13'' at all, then simply with the term Heavy Metal with Growls, because GOREFEST play nothing else in 1998, but they cover many facets very well.
The 2019's re-edition on limited vinyl comes in clear wax with orange/white splatters in gatefold cover.
