Go!! Records is without doubt one of the most significant, interesting and collectible Australian labels of the 1960s and was also one of only a handful that could claim to be truly "independent". It was a classic '60s label with its archetypal 'Mod' name and logo combined with featuring music by some of the best of the new generation of Australian pop performers of the mid-1960s.

The label was established in 1964 by DYT Productions, who were also the producers of the top-rating TV pop show The Go!! Show, which premiered in mid-1964. The show was an immediate ratings winner and its initial run was extended to a full year after only seven weeks on air. It quickly became the most popular (and arguably the best) pop show of the period, and during its three-year run it featured many of the best home-grown artists as well as up and comers.

Go!! predominately released garage / beat singles as many of its artists were still fledgling and nowhere near getting enough material together for an album. The label did however release 6 LP’s … the 3 in this Hitmakers series and one respectively from Bobby & Laurie, The Cherokees and M.P.D. Ltd.

Included here are the excellent garage-punker by Bobby & Laurie's ("Crazy Country Hop" ) as well as the monster snarling fuzz-laden punker "The Thought Of You" by The Cherokees. This latter gem has the most killer guitar solos … tough and relentless with slashing fuzz guitar from beginning to end…. sigh, those were the days !!

Rarely does this classic set turn up and a highly recommended and collectable album.

Vinyl - play-tested completely both sides : No obtrusive marks with heaps of shine and plays along just great with no pops or skips. A thick slab of a platter that’s worthy of an EX+…. Simply fantastic for this rarity.
Labels : Clean.
Sleeve : Fantastic and near new … absolutely glorious !! The only fault of any note is the small sticker residue patch at top right corner on front as per photos above. The barest sign of ring-wear on the white back cover is forgiven here in the overall appreciation of this beauty.
