Description
Released in 1981, Beauty And The Beat is the explosive debut album from GO GOS and one of the defining records of the early MTV era. Blending sharp new wave hooks with surf pop energy and punk attitude, this album delivered multiple hit singles and quickly became a commercial and cultural landmark.
This US I.R.S. Records pressing, manufactured and distributed by A&M Records, features the original spa themed cover artwork and classic band portraits inside the jacket. The label shows SP 70021 and 1981 I.R.S., Inc. copyright, consistent with early pressings from the initial release period.
Track highlights include Our Lips Are Sealed, We Got The Beat, How Much More, Lust To Love, and This Town. The album helped establish GO GOS as the first all female band who wrote and played their own instruments to top the Billboard album chart. It remains a cornerstone of early 80s new wave and power pop.
