RACE TO SPACE / YOU TARZAN, ME JANE ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by GLENN WILLINGS. Original US pressing on the COMBO label (166-AA), from circa late '50s. Desirable and insanely good rock 'n' roll item on an obscure Hollywood based label. Glenn Willings was a guitarist on the early Rockabilly scene in Los Angeles and cut this recording sometime in the late '50s. Both sides are killer examples of the genre. Primitive rhythms / grindhouse tittyshaker sax solos / sleazy guitar vamps / congas /  funky drums and big vocals. RACE TO SPACE is a teen dancehall rocker cashing-in on America's atomic age / rocket ship obsession with all things 'outer-space' ;) The raw and infectious YOU TARZAN ME JANE uses crude jungle sound gimmicks / FX and heavy latin percussion to devastating effect. Comped on Lucky Strollers Vol. 8 by Rebound Records and Harlem Shuffle - The Roots of Soul 1958 to 1963. Great for DJs. Booming production sound.  If you like your rock n roll with a nasty exotica / gut bucket inspired kick then this one will fit nicely beside Harold Jackson And The Jackson Brothers - The Freedom Riders / Travelin' tune on Edsel label. Seldom offered for sale. Very rare 45!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) with some hairlines / faint paper scuffs from sleeve removal. Booming production sound. Light surface noises, but remember this is a really old record ;) Faded writing to one side of label. Item taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of the soundclip. Record housed in plain white sleeve. Very rare 45!!!
