Description
Rare vintage soul LP featuring GLADYS KNIGHT and THE PIPS on the MAXX label, from 1963.
Title is “Gladys Knight and the Pips.” This was the group’s second-ever LP release, with very few copies produced. Four of the tunes were written by Van McCoy.
Catalog number is MAXX 3000. Label is blue with silver print. MONO issue on medium thick vinyl.
This is one of my all-time favourite albums. I still get chills when I hear Gladys’ performance on “Giving Up” as when I first heard it over the radio back in 1963.
Guaranteed to be original and authentic. I do not sell boots or modern reissues.

Jacket: Jacket is in very nice shape on the front and on seams and spine. Front art work is clean and bright. Reverse has problems, where there are several torn places where tape may have come into contact with the surface. Also, there are several stains and discolouration. All is visible in the photo scans provided. Not a perfect jacket by any means, but perhaps acceptable to many collectors due to the rarity of the album.
Vinyl: Vinyl is very clean, grades nice VG++ with full original gloss. There are a few light hairlines that do not affect the playing, no serious marks and virtually no wear. Fidelity is awesome. This is a very nice playing copy of this hard-to-find gem, as you can hear in the accompanying sound clip.
