DEEP GROOVE 10"! RARE!



Extremely rare Blue Note 10" by the first caucasian to be signed to Blue Note Records - at age 19, no less! Along with his other Blue Note 10"s, this album is one of the rarest pieces of jazz wax out there.

Gil Melle Quartet: Gil Melle (baritone sax), Lou Mecca (guitar), Bill Phillips (bass) and Vinnie Thomas (drums) recorded at Hackensack, NJ on September 5, 1954.

TRACKS: Lullaby of Birdland - Ballad for Guitar - Metropolitan - Newport News - Quadrille for Moderns - Summertime

Cover is VG+ with slight ringwear and split bottom seam. The vinyl appears VG+ and plays very well with some surface noise and only occasional pops or clicks. Deep groove label with 767 Lexington Avenue address prominently displayed in lovely script! If you take into account that this jazz wax is over 50 years old and is not up to today's high standards, you will enjoy this album wholeheartedly.
