Description
Up for auction is a really nice original copy of the Gigi Gryce album "Saying Somethin'" released on New Jazz Records in 1960. This is an original MONO, double-sided, deep groove pressing with RVG in the dead wax. This is a promotional copy with the "Preview" stamp on the back cover. The cover is in really nice condition, lamination is still shiny but it is starting to separate along the opening of the right side (no real losses of laminate, just a few small tears (see photos). Corners are sharp, not bumped. Upper left corner shows a small amount of rubbing and chip loss. Seams are strong and intact, no splitting, though the spine is slightly chipped near the bottom (see photo). Back cover is in clean condition, mostly bone white as it should be. "Preview Copy" stamped in red along left border. Very small moisture mark in upper right corner. No ring wear or writing. Thin moisture discoloration for a few inches along top right side seam. Overall, presents very nicely and whatever blemishes there are are minor and do not detract from the overall attractiveness of cover. I'd grade the cover EX/EX+. The heavy, deep groove vinyl is great shape, very nicely preserved. No obvious scratches or scuffs that pop out at you. No marks around spindle holes, indicating very little previous use. Retains its original high gloss sheen, very shiny still. Shows very few signs of previous play or handling. Play tested, the record sounds clean and full-bodied. Very rich sounding mono pressing. Not audiophile perfect, but for an original old pressing, this is a clean sounding record. I'd grade the vinyl Near Mint (NM)/Near Mint Minus (NM-). Looks as good as it sounds. 100% guaranteed satisfaction or your money back. Buyers are responsible for insurance.
