You are bidding on the First recording of Rhapsody in Blue of 1924 in VERY GOOD PLUS condition, acoustically recorded.
Many years ago, I was the winning bidder in the late Larry Holdridge auction. I have kept it in my collection ever since and I only played it one time. I am now looking to place it in a good home.
This is what Discogs Says:
The first recording of "Rhapsody In Blue."
Recorded acoustically 10 June 1924, New York, NY.
Matrices C-30173 (take 2) and C-30174 (take 1).
Released October 1924.
The recording cuts out about a third of the score in order to fit it onto two sides. Not to be confused with the first electrical recording, also by Victor, catalog number 35822, "Rhapsody in Blue", recorded 21 April 1927, New York, NY.
Matrices CVE-30173 (take 8) and CVE-30174 (take 6).
Released July 1927.
Both feature the same orchestra (in name), George Gershwin is pianist on both, and Ferde Grofé is the credited arranger, but these are two distinct recordings, and each has its separate entry in the database.
