This one is a mono first pressing of 'George Wallington Quintet At The Bohemia' on Progressive Records PLP-1001. Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder at the Cafe Bohemia, N.Y.C., in 1955. Deep Groove on both labels. And "RVG" etched on the dead wax of both sides. Comes with original rice paper sleeve. Very Rare in this condition.
Artists include George Wallington (piano), Jackie McLean (alto sax), Donald Byrd (trumpet), Paul Chambers (bass), and Art Taylor (drums).
The disc looks NM on both sides, under the bright light, with shine and luster. Just small non-feelable hairlines and scuff. Labels are clean, just very light spindle marks.
The Record plays very nice on both sides. No sign of groove wear and background noise despite its 64 years old. There are around soft 16 tics and pops at the beginning of song no.2 of side 2 (not distract and not overpowering music). Thus, I play-graded it NM on Side 1 and VG++ on Side 2 due to that tics. Otherwise, it should have been NM on both sides.
The promo version of the laminated cover is overall NM. Strong/No split. Some little wares and little laminate peeling at the upper left corner. The spine is intact. Two "SAMPLE NOT FOR SALE" stamps on back cover.
The record is play graded as well as visually. I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws.
My grading is as follows: M (perfectly like new), NM, VG++, VG+, VG, VG-, G, G-.
