Description

Original 1950s George Jones debut LP entitled, "Grand Ole Opry's New Star/George Jones Sings Country Song Hits." This is on the Starday label SLP-101 (original, first pressing; pale yellow 'deep groove' labels with the company's logo in stylish/script-style print at the top). This was his very first LP that was issued in 1956!! Grading is as follows:
The vinyl is in exceptionally clean VG+ condition with full gloss and it plays very nicely!! This record is pressed on super thick/heavyweight vinyl (in fact, it is one of the heaviest LP records I have ever had or seen!!). Consequently, both sides do play with some very light, general surface pressing noise (which is common with all early Starday LP's and 45's from this era...) and some minor general surface/pressing anomalies here and there, but certainly nothing that adversely affects the overall sound quality of the LP. I played both sides of this record with a regular Stanton stylus (tracked at 1.5 grams). Some small spindle marks on each of the labels. Record is housed in a newer, polylined/antistatic sleeve.

The cover is a very sharp VG and it displays very well overall!! There is a bit of very light general surface rubbing/ringwear to both sides, some  edgewear here and there, a small piece of old clear tape reinforcement in one of the bottom corners only, a couple minor little 'aging specks' on the back side only, and a small original store price written lightly and neatly in pencil in the upper-right corner of the back side only as well. No splits, no tears, no creases, no pen writing, no stains, no cutout holes, no delete marks, etc.
All things considered, this is an incredibly well-preserved example of this legendary LP which very seldom turns up in such condition nowadays!!

All of my LPs are shipped in professionally-designed, heavy duty cardboard mailers with extra cardboard padding.

I personally write all of my own titles and descriptions, take all of my own photos, and package all items for mailing myself.  I do not use text, photos or information from “other” sources and would certainly never do so without referencing them. Items pictured in any of my listings are always the actual items that buyers will receive from me.

Payment by PAYPAL ONLY....I do not accept any other form of payment. Unless the buyer makes a different arrangement with me, payment is expected within three days (72 hours) from the closing date of the item.

Buyer satisfaction and returns:  Item must be returned to me in the same condition as it was packaged and mailed to the buyer.

Items are normally shipped within 1 to 2 business days from receipt of payment.

My vinyl and cover/sleeve gradings are as follows:

MINT: I do not use this grade except for sealed/unopened items.

NEAR MINT or MINT MINUS: Vinyl looks basically brand new, untouched, unplayed or nearly unplayed. Cover looks pretty much as new with no real flaws to speak of. This is basically how the item would have looked when it was new from the factory.

VG++: Very close to M-, with vinyl showing only the very slightest, most subtle signs of any past handling or play. Cover may show just the barest hint of wear from age, but nothing at all serious or detracting.

VG+: Vinyl shows some subtle signs that it was played in the past, but was generally well taken care of. Cover shows only some minor signs of age or wear, but nothing too detracting.

VG: Vinyl is beginning to show more obvious signs of past handling and play but still has strong sound quality overall. Cover is beginning to show more signs of age and wear, but is fully intact and still displays very well overall.

GOOD: Vinyl has very obvious signs of wear from over the years, but still plays strongly and enjoyably enough. Cover has obvious wear and tear from age, but is intact and still displayable.

***My very good and good records are very good and good, not bad and even worse! I also do not use the EX (excellent) grading at all.***

FAIR:  Record wasn’t properly cared for in the past and very clearly shows it, but it is still playable and should be enjoyable enough for some. I rarely offer records in this condition.
