GEORGE HARRISON Wonderwall Music (Apple Sapcor 1) RARE UK 1st Pressing + Insert MINT!
RAREST very first UK pressing of George Harrison`s original soundtrack "Wonderwall Music", released on Apple Records (November 1968).
In very close to perfect condition, this copy comes from a high-quality, first-owner collection we recently acquired.
"An undistinguished film muzak sampler on which real music manages to surface only on the Bombay-recorded pieces (...) but these have little to do with Harrison and it is the [Indian] musicians' own excellence which salvages the general disorganisation of the LP." - Roy Carr & Tony Tyler, The Beatles: An Illustrated Record (1975).
GRADING:
MINT- COVER in near-perfect condition. Please see photos for details.
- Pristine original fully laminated UK first-press sleeve that still retains its full original shine and lustre.
- A single "thumb print" crease close to the spine on front cover. Other than that, pure perfection!
- This record was stored away for almost 45 years. It has no edge or corner wear whatsoever.
- Includes the original George Harrison photo/insert in stunning MINT(-) condition.
- Also includes the original matt-black Apple Records inner sleeve in EX+ condition. Small tear to the opening edge.
MINT- RECORD in practically perfect condition.
- Pristine vinyl on both sides, with impeccable audio reproduction throughout.
- The record was bought in 1969 and was stored away soon after purchase. It has been played three or four times.
- Apart from two lightest paper scuffs from sleeve removal only, the vinyl shows no signs of previous play.
- Original UK first pressing Apple Records labels with "Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions" affix.
- Original UK first-pressing Apple Records labels with two to three light spindle lines on each label.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "SAPCOR 1A -1" and "SAPCOR 1B -2". "STAP 1 A1" and "STAP 1 B2" matrix stamps have been crossed out.
- Mothers/Stampers: "1 / A" on Side One and "1 / R" on Side Two.
The above stamper information tells us the following: While Side One was from the third batch, i.e. from copies nos. 600-900 of "Wonderwall Music", Side Two is from the second batch, i.e. from the even earlier 300-600 series!
- This record is hereby fully certified to be an original, very first UK pressing of "Wonderwall Music", released in November 1968.
