All Things Must Pass is a triple album by English musician George Harrison. Recorded and released in 1970, the album was Harrison's first solo work since the break-up of the Beatles in April that year, and his third solo album overall. It includes the hit singles "My Sweet Lord" and "What Is Life", as well as songs such as "Isn't It a Pity" and the title track that were turned down by the Beatles. The album reflects the influence of his musical activities with artists such as Bob Dylan, the Band, Delaney & Bonnie and Billy Preston during 1968–70, as well as Harrison's growth as an artist beyond his supporting role to former bandmates John Lennon and Paul McCartney. All Things Must Pass introduced Harrison's signature sound, the slide guitar, and the spiritual themes that would be present throughout his subsequent solo work. The original vinyl release consisted of two LPs of songs and a third disc of informal jams, titled Apple Jam. Commentators interpret Barry Feinstein's album cover photo, showing Harrison surrounded by four garden gnomes, as a statement on his independence from the Beatles.

Production began at London's Abbey Road Studios in May 1970, with extensive overdubbing and mixing continuing through October. Among the large cast of backing musicians were Eric Clapton and Delaney & Bonnie's Friends band – three of whom formed Derek and the Dominos with Clapton during the recording – as well as Ringo Starr, Gary Wright, Preston, Klaus Voormann, John Barham, Badfinger and Pete Drake. The sessions produced a double album's worth of extra material, most of which remains unissued.

All Things Must Pass was critically and commercially successful on release, with long stays at number 1 on charts around the world. The album was co-produced by Phil Spector and employs his Wall of Sound production technique to notable effect; Ben Gerson of Rolling Stone described the sound as "Wagnerian, Brucknerian, the music of mountain tops and vast horizons”. Reflecting the widespread surprise at the assuredness of Harrison's post-Beatles debut, Melody Maker's Richard Williams likened the album to Greta Garbo's first role in a talking picture and declared: "Garbo talks! – Harrison is free!" According to Colin Larkin, writing in the 2011 edition of his Encyclopedia of Popular Music, All Things Must Pass is "generally rated" as the best of all the former Beatles' solo albums.

ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING: 

Yes – brilliant sound quality throughout!

This pressing is in MINT condition and has clear undistorted audio, with super clear sound and absolutely minimal background static. In fact there is barely any detectable surface sound at all. There is certainly no dominant interference, and NO distortion. It really sounds great and plays with great sound separation and clarity!

Superb sound, every track has been tested and I could find no obvious sound blemishes.  Wonderful TOP audio, there is NO distortion, NO sticks or jumps what so ever, and virtual silence between the tracks.

Great music with great clarity, and so hard to find with this type of sound. I'll give a detailed account below:

Beginning with the classic 'I'd Have You Any Time' the audio is just incredible. There is virtually no occasional static and certainly nothing obtrusive, which is pretty incredible for a 1st track on this highly collectable record. Its so clear that you can clearly hear the metronome keeping beat, a sound that is nearly always lost with the slightest surface sound. 

There are so many variables in the audio performance, and so many quiet delicate sections. Barely any static during the run in grooves, and some very slight background only. Amazing. This vinyl sounds as it looks, Unplayed.

'My Sweet Lord' and 'Wah Wah' also have quiet intros, and again the sound is just sensational. The Audio is near flawless and I don't not use that term lightly. Still not a single loud pop or click, and still virtually no static to be heard. 'Its A Pity' again has superb clear audio. There is virtually no static at all here, just the faintest most distant background sound to be detected, and a performance that would outshine even most brand new unplayed vinyls. 

Bringing in side 2. 'What Is Life' again plays with super clear audio, and still virtually no static or surface sound. No light pops between tracks, 'Its Not For You' and 'Behind That Locked Door' play with barely any detectable occasional light background static, and still that brilliant clear tonal and audio quality. Again with the classics, 'Let It Down' and 'Run Of The Mill' there is barely any detectable static and certainly no intrusive interference of ay sort, just super bright loud bassy sound. Fantastic. 

Side 3. 'Beware of Darkness' and 'Apple Scruffs' continue the musical journey, and play superbly. There is very little surface sound at all, and not a single pop or click. The 'Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp' plays superbly, there is barely any detectable light static, a couple of very light static tics only, and certainly nothing intrusive. Any surface sound that there is is extremely infrequent and barely audible. There is not a single loud pop or click during the music, anywhere on the vinyl. The sound quality is extremely clear, and it plays with incredible separation, sharpness and tonal clarity. The same goes for 'Awaiting On You All' and 'All Things Must Pass', the building intro, and the tracks play superbly with NO light surface static. 

Side 4. 'I Dig Love' and 'Art of Dying' play with great clarity, following a very quiet clear middle section, returning to the final passages, this audio performance is concluded and this final quiet outro plays superbly. There is no obvious static during 'Isn't It A Pity' or 'Hear Me Lord', and no pops or clicks at all.

Side 5. comes in with 'Out Of The Blue' which plays with great clear sound, again with no pops clicks and barely any surface sound. 'Its Johnny's Birthday' and 'Plug Me In' play with great clarity, clear audio and again barely any detectable surface static at all. 

The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, the vocals which come through with tremendous power. Its the same with the bass guitar and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear. With the clear and extra loud First cut engineering giving the audio a vibrant sound which cannot be beaten. 

A great all round example of this classic vinyl that plays as cleanly and deeply as vinyl can. This is a great audio pleasure for such a rare vinyl. A great all round example of this great vinyl. 

I would happily give this great record a strict NEAR MINT to MINT sound grading. 

THE RECORD

A superb set of glossy vinyls, and really thick pressings. Deep clear grooves that can only be found on the original 1st pressings, two of these vinyls have never been played, showing only the faintest handling marks. In bright daylight they look unmarked, they have never seen a stylus until our careful play test, and the vinyls are immaculate. Unbelievable to think this set is over 40 years old!

Famous Apple labels are in great condition. All the ink is completely intact, no marks or writing, and NO spindle traces. Incredible!

THE BOX COVER

This is a great example of this very rare box cover. 

Harrison commissioned Tom Wilkes to design a hinged box in which to house the three vinyl discs, rather than have them packaged in a triple gatefold cover. Apple insider Tony Bramwell later recalled: "It was a bloody big thing ... You needed arms like an orang-utan to carry half a dozen." The packaging caused some confusion among retailers, who, at that time, associated boxed albums with opera or classical works.

The stark black-and-white cover photo was taken on the main lawn at Friar Park by Wilkes' Camouflage Productions partner, Barry Feinstein. Commentators interpret the photograph – showing Harrison seated in the centre of, and towering over, four comical-looking garden gnomes – as representing his removal from the Beatles' collective identity. The gnomes had recently been delivered to Friar Park and placed on the lawn; seeing the four figures there, and mindful of the message in the album's title, Feinstein immediately drew parallels with Harrison's former band. Author and music journalist Mikal Gilmore has written that Lennon's initial negativity regarding All Things Must Pass was possibly because he was "irritated" by this cover photo; Harrison biographer Elliot Huntley attributes this reaction to envy on Lennon's part during a time when "everything [Harrison] touched turned to gold".

This is a great example of this rare cover. The Box covers on All Things Must Pass are nearly always broken, worn and un readable. This is a lovely example, the front and back are in great condition with barely any slight markings.

There is no light scuffing to the corners, and a couple of very light creases. The opening edges are very square and totally un frayed. A great example. All round, this is a stunning box cover!

Apple included a poster with the album, showing Harrison in a darkened corridor of his home, standing in front of an iron-framed window. Wilkes had designed a more adventurous poster, but according to Beatles author Bruce Spizer, Harrison was uncomfortable with the imagery. Some of the Feinstein photographs that Wilkes had incorporated into this original poster design appeared instead on the picture sleeves for the "My Sweet Lord" single and its follow-up, "What Is Life".

Stunning Original 1st Press three fold poster, not to be confused with the later lighter editions, in completely original virtually untouched condition. This highly collectable poster is in great condition, with no rips or seem splits. NO pin holes, there isn't even any wear at all along the seam folds. This really is as new as you will ever find. 

THE INNERS

Original paper 1st press inner sleeves. These incredibly delicate inner sleeves were incredibly prone to destruction and were often discarded. This is a great set, with NO tears at all, no seam splits and no stains. Some very slight creases only.

RARITY

A 1st pressing of All Things Must Pass in this type of condition is unbelievably rare. The vinyl is so often heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound. Any 1st PRESS examples with a complete set of vinyls in this type of condition, that play brilliantly is practically unheard of.

The box cover is almost impossible to find without serious wear, even modestly worn examples are scarce and this one is a great example. Finding a great cover, poster and vinyl with all complete 1st press original parts, fantastic!.
