INFO
'....A landmark session from MPS' Jazz Meets The World series! The record features George Gruntz leading a group with Sahib Shihab on soprano and flute, Eberhard Weber on bass, Daniel Humair on drums....and added African percussionists playing a variety of instruments. The centerpiece of the session is the extended 30 minute track "Mahgreb Cantata", and there's two other shorter tracks named "Salhe" and "Nemeit". The overall sound is great....and the mix of hard percussion with Shihab's great sax and flute work is totally excellent. Jean Luc Ponty also plays some violin on the session .....but it's never gimmicky, and works especially well with some of the stringed African instruments played by the group!...'
