When this was released, legendary TV producer Jack Good raved about this single in a music paper declaring it was the best British pop record to date, heaping praise upon Joe Meek's talents.
It's not hard to hear why since this was pure Meek, really laying on all his tricks combined with an imaginative Charles Blackwell arrangement to create a disc that was elaborate and dramatic.
However, it was up against Craig Douglas' version and Douglas scored the bigger hit with a much sparser rendition in every possible way.
