Gentle Giant : In A Glass House 1V1 / 2Y4 2nd Press 1972 w/ Gimmix Cover

This vinyl plays to a superb standard with hardly any intrusion.  This is of course an album that has a number of quiet sections and yet the clarity of sound on both sides is stunning.  The only 'obvious' interference is one tick / light click on the title track and aside from that there are only a few minor non-intrusive statics.  This truly is an exceptional record and the depth and warmth of the audio is so impressive also.  It clearly has not been played very much. 

The gimmix cover, with transparent fol on the front, is in superb condition with only a little wear by the top left corner and the insert is in great shape also.  The lyric inner is very clean with only minimal wear.

Visual description

The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a strong glossy sheen with no obvious marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a small number of faint sleeve removal hairlines and a small area of faint mottling on S2 but this has no affect on the superb audio.  The labels are super clean and have hardly any spindle wear.

Play grading

The 'percussive' intro on 'The Runaway' plays with outstanding clarity and as the music comes in there is still no intrusion.  The opening vocal section is perfect and the long instrumental section is close to that with only a couple of seconds of very light static.  This section really does play with stunning clarity.  It continues to play with remarkable quality which is impressive when you consider this is not a loud track.  There is nothing intrusive across the entire track and Mint- is an honest assessment of the audio.

The intro on 'An Inmates Lullaby' has no interference, just a couple of light dust ticks, and the first vocal is equal to that with only 2/3 minor statics.  I only say that because I mention any background even if barely audible!  The mid instrumental instrumental plays with sublime clarity and the next vocal section is superb.  Once again there is no background and this standard is kept up to the very end.  A handful of mega quiet statics but again totally non-intrusive.  This ranges between Near Mint and Mint-

'Way Of Life' plays with exceptional quality through every section.  There is literally nothing getting in the way of the audio and even the quieter mid organ / vocal section and the end instrumental all play with unbelievable clarity.  The depth and warmth of the audio is another stand out feature and it just could not play any better.  I will grade as Mint- as there are a handful of barely audible dust ticks although I'm not sure I should downgrade it because of that.  A stunning version.

The quiet intro on 'Experience' has only a hint of barely audible static which is in no way intrusive.  The opening vocal is flawless and the following instrumental is just as impressive.  It continues to play with impeccable quality and the quiet mid section is super clean with only a couple of mega quiet statics.  You really notice the depth of the audio during the instrumental sections and it is clear this vinyl has hardly been played.  The clarity and definition of the audio is on another level.  Another STUNNING track that deserves a Mint- grade at the very least.

The intro on 'A Reunion' is nigh on perfect and the same applies to the first vocal.  The sonic quality does not drop as it progresses and I only heard a couple of very quiet statics.  Mint- again.

The instrumental opening on 'In A Glass House' plays perfectly as does the first verse.  Then another long instrumental and again there is not even a single dust tick, phenomenal audio!  There is one dull tick / very light click during the mid instrumental but that is the only intrusion across the entire 7+ minutes.  A handful of barely audible statics but there nothing that stands out as interference.  In essence the clarity from start to finish is stunning and the original sonic quality is still very much there.  I will say Near Mint but yes 99% is better than that.

The 'hidden' final track 'Index' plays perfectly with zero background.  A superb finish.

The Gimmix Cover, Insert & Lyric Inner

The textured cover is in excellent condition with only very minimal shelf wear, the best I have seen.  There is just a little wear by the left corner on the top edge and that's about it!  Apart from that the edges are incredibly clean and the thin spine just has one minor rub.  The other corners are in superb shape and the opening edge has very little handling wear.  The front cover is in lovely condition and the transparent foil centre is still firmly attached with no wear.  The back cover is just as impressive with only a couple of tiny 'specks'.  A stunning example overall.

The printed cardboard insert is close to perfect with only very faint age related fading down the right hand side and the lyric inner is very clean with no side splits or tears, just some light creasing and October 73 Dingwall written in one corner.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
