WATCHER OF THE SKIES
Back when Genesis was still getting off the ground in America they had a pretty checkered past. Their only previous single was “The Silent Sun” back in 1968, and it was largely ignored. By the time of this release, “Watcher Of The Skies” the band was promoting their 4th album ‘Foxtrot.’ All previous releases were allowed to stand as albums alone, but with this one, Charisma felt they had a shot at some AM radio play.
Here’s the seldom seen radio promo of “Watcher Of The Skies.” It’s got the same song on both sides, but instead of a Mono / Stereo split here, both are in ‘Dual 45’ format, so it’s playable on either sort of station ! The song was 7:23 and this is the radio edit, taking it down to 3:44 with a really peculiar edit that probably sabotaged the song.
