Description

This white label test pressing was given to me by a friend of mine who roadied for genesis back in the 70's.
Genesis were local celebrities, and owned a recording studio called The Farm just a few miles from me in Chiddingfold.
THE VINYL is one of a very small quantity of WHITE LABEL TEST PRESSINGS that were manufactured for the band and record company prior to the very first UK pressing of the album. This was/is standard procedure in record pressing plants, to check there are no pressing faults or sound quality problems. Therefore this pressing may not be the same as the version that was finally released. I am unable to confirm or dismiss this, the reason is detailed below.
This is the genuine article, and bears the CD4001 catalogue number, followed by the A1/B1 first press stamps, exactly the same as the first press labelled versions.

THE RECORD, ALTHOUGH THE GENUINE ARTICLE, AND VERY RARE, IS UNFORTUNATELY WARPED AND MOST LIKELY UNPLAYABLE UNLESS YOU HAVE THE MEANS TO RESTORE IT OR SPECIALIST EQUIPMENT TO PLAY IT. I AM SELLING THIS PURELY AS A COLLECTORS PIECE AND WILL NOT ACCEPT RETURNS BASED ON RECORD CONDITION. THE RECORD SURFACE IS IN FAIRLY GOOD CONDITION, BUT DOES SHOW SIGNS OF BEING PLAYED AT SOME POINT, AND THERE ARE A FEW NEEDLE SCRATCHES VISIBLE IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY.
THE RECORD IS IN A COPY OF THE OFFICIAL SLEEVE, BUT IT IS NOT THE TEXTURED VERSION THAT THE ORIGINAL PRESSINGS CAME IN.

Please bid with confidence, this is a very rare genuine collectors item, and an opportunity to own a real piece of Genesis's history. You will not find one of these for sale very often, I have personally seen only 1 in the last 10 years!
