Genesis : From Genesis To Revelation 1W / 2W Early Boxed Decca Press & Lyric Insert
This early blue boxed Decca label is stunning! It is practically 'as new' with only one light click on S1 and there is no other background to speak of. The clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is phenomenal and it is clear it has not been played very much. The original sonic quality is still very much in evidence and I cannot emphasise enough just how clean and precise the audio is. The vinyl is visually stunning and has been so carefully looked after over the last 55 years.
The same applies to the laminated cover which has to be one of the most impressive examples I have ever seen. It is in lovely condition with only very minimal shelf wear and the original inner sleeve is also in great shape. A stunning 'package' all round.
The early pressing has no mono / stereo indicator hole on the back cover but the lyric insert still shows both the mono and stereo catalogue numbers.

Visual description
The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has a stunning glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. Under a bright light I can only see a small number of ultra faint hairlines and there is nothing that stands out. The run out grooves are very clean as are the blue boxed Decca labels which only have minimal spindle wear.
Play grading
The run in on S1 is so quiet and then the piano intro / opening vocal on 'When The Sour Turns To Sweet' plays with perfect clarity. As the volume increases the playback is stunning and it continues in the same precise way. I cannot overstate just how clean and 'new' sounding the audio is, in essence it could not play any better. The quieter sections play beautifully and this is easily a Mint start to the album.
There are a couple of minor static ticks in the dead wax and then the 'industrial' intro on 'In The Beginning' has no background at all. The opening vocal is just as strong and as it progresses what stands out is the warmth and depth of the audio as well as the clarity. The instrumental sections are faultless - it's one of the more powerful tracks on the album and yet the sonic quality is 10/10 with no distortion. The quiet piano section at the end plays so clearly and again Mint is deserved and that is no exaggeration. As may regular customers know I mention any background even if barely audible and so far there has not been any!
The intro on 'Fireside Song' is 'as new' and the first verse and chorus are of the same standard. Has this record ever been played?! The rest of the song plays with great precision with only a couple of minor statics on the instrumental ending so I will say Mint-
The bass intro on 'The Serpent' has no background and Gabriel's opening vocal is equally as clean. There is one light click during the next quieter instrumental section but that is the only interference on the entire track. It's quite a bass heavy track and depth on the audio because of that is superb and there is no 'muddiness' to the sound. Crystal clear audio aside from the one light click so I will grade as Near Mint- accordingly.
The acoustic intro on 'Am I Very Wrong?' plays with sublime clarity and this high end quality is prevalent throughout. No ticks, clicks, pops or static and therefore another Mint track. The 'busy' choruses in particular play with genuine quality and again there is nothing getting in the way of the audio.
'In The Wilderness' impresses on every level. From the quiet piano intro, the first verse and chorus - every section plays with incredible quality for a final track. You might expect some inner groove distortion especially on the powerful second half but nope not here! This album is full of quiet piano endings and this one also plays so clearly with only one minor static so I will say Mint- but even that seems a little harsh!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The entire intro on 'The Conqueror' is flawless and the opening vocal section has no interference either. From then on it plays with that by now familiar clarity and depth and again there are no negatives. Mint from start to finish.
A superb melody on 'In Hiding' and it plays with unbelievable clarity and warmth with no sign of any background. A STUNNING Mint version in every way.
Another quiet intro on 'One Day' and it plays to perfection with no intrusion. The first verse and chorus are just as strong and it continues with a sonic quality that is second to none. A number of quiet sections and yet they all play to the same high end standard with no interference. The more powerful passages are pretty good also! Mint
'Window' is so close to perfect with just one minor tick during the first verse, certainly not intrusive. Another great melody here and the rest of the track plays with exceptional quality and... no interference. I don't want to go on but the quieter sections are just incredible, so quiet and yet not even a single dust tick. Mint-
'In Limbo' plays with impeccable quality through every section. Very impressive audio in fact as there are a number of powerful sections and yet the definition is superb and there is no distortion. Mint
The classic 'Silent Sun' plays to the same standard with no interference. This may be getting a little repetitive now (!) but the clarity and depth on this album is on another level. As stated it is so obvious this record has hardly been played. One of the more 'well known' tracks on this album and it is without question Mint all the way through.
The gentle 'A Place To Call My Own' ends the album with great clarity once more. The very quiet opening vocal section is basically perfect with only a handful of barely audible dust ticks (why I mention them I do not know!) and as the volume increases the audio could not be any stronger. Mint is again fair and wow what an album!
The Cover, Lyric Insert & Inner Sleeve
This cover is so often found in poor condition but this one has been so well preserved over the last 55 years. The edges and spine are so clean and the corners have barely any wear either. The opening edge has no handling wear and the laminated front cover is stunning with just one very small laminate crease and some very faint ringwear as is common. The back cover is not laminated and yet remains in great shape with no marking as such just some light ringwear and a little fading near the bottom edge. This pressing does not have the mono / stereo indicator hole by the way. A superb example.
The lyric inner is in superb condition and has no creasing which is a rarity! The only marking is a pencil underlining on one track on S1 otherwise it is perfect. The poly-lined stereo inner has no side splits or marking just a couple of small 'nicks' on the top edge.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
