This 1972 release from Genesis shows a band growing more confident in the sound developed in their previous release, Nursery Cryme. The influence of Tony Banks continued to grow as more and different keyboards were worked into the compositions. Genesis released their first (and only) side-long epic. All these things point to FOXTROT as one of the most important Genesis albums and arguably in my oppinion one of the best!!!!!.

Strong points of the album include the solemn "Watcher of the Skies", bookended by a powerful and familliar Mellotron theme. "Can-Utility and the Coastliners", a somewhat underappreciated track, is almost prototypical Genesis, with Gabriel singing of the legend of King Canute while Hackett and Banks tear into their respective instruments to produce parts which are enjoyable yet still technically proficient. "Horizion's" is a nice enough guitar solo, and of course there is "Supper's Ready". So what to make of this 20+-minute song that begins with an evening watching TV and ends with the apocalypse? Personally I think it is brilliant.

The Vinyl

This is the original thick and heavy type of vinyl only found on the earliest 1st pressings! The vinyl retains its sheen from new and looks awesome.It is hard to see a blemish on initial inspection. When looked at under a strong light the are (very) few light surface marks\scratches\scuffs that can be seen but these are very hard to spot indeed and you have to look hard .

The Audio quality

I have played this through track for track at very loud volume throughought! This audio is truly awesome clear and vibrant throughout. firstly there is absolutely no distortion at all or any signs that this has been overplayed. (no) skips or jumps! cristal clear audio!  Side 1. Plays through very near perfect on my system. There is the odd light static perhapes heard in some quiet places only. During one place on the intro to the third track on side 2. it seems that a needle may have been dropped at this point and causes some clicks at this point only (that's all) and to be honest i can't see any thing that would cause this! and perhapes the odd static tick here and there but in general this audio is truly stunning indeed!  Very very vibrant throughout! Very playable and enjoyable indeed!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd light static tick\crackle\click  (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 37 year old vinylo that would have originally been played on a 39 year old system!

Points to note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static This can be reduced by a constant clean before each play! (This is recomended) This will also enhance the audio quality)   !.

(The famous charisma label.)1972 Quartet/GENESIS music ltd.(PLEASE NOTE! only the earliest press labels are more pink in colour than later press)  ''B&C RECORDS'' label credits (only UK 1st pressings ) VERY MINIMALSPIDER MARKS CAN BE SEEN THIS IN MY OPINION HAS BARTELY BEEN PLAYED!! INCREDIBLE!!

Graded as at least excellent condition with just the bare minimal storage ware to talk of in the form of light general rubbing to the corners!!!!! Sharp Crisp Corners!! Textured cover (only found on 1st pressings) B&C CREDITS (only 1st press covers) ''RED'' Writing at the spine (only 1st press covers) (no) real creases (no) nasty names
