MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original CAPITOL Records very first Mono press released in Chile by Capitol Records in 1959 (?), licensed from Capitol Records Inc., USA, made and distributed by Industrias Eléctricas y Musicales Odeon S.A. (Odeon Records Chile), catalog number F 3874, with machine etched matrix numbers 45-18036 MD in Side A and 45-17822 MD in Side B (“MD” handwritten in both sides). Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER GREAT FIND FROM CHILE!!!

The first to tell about this single is that in 1960 Chile changed the currency from PESO ($) to ESCUDO (E°) and I had got the information this single was released in Chile in 1960, because in label of Side A I had always seen the price informed in both PESO and ESCUDO, but I’ve found, now by the second time this copy with the price informed only in PESO!!! The price isn’t at the usual line “PRECIO”, it’s printed below the matrix number. So, I only see one chance, they didn’t print the price in the place they should because they didn’t know what price to print and because the record was made in 1959 they finally printed the price $900, which’s the correct original price of the single, because PESO was the currency in 1959. Maybe it’s only an error but in 1960 the price had had to be in ESCUDO or at least to have informed the price in both currencies as the other copies I’ve seen and so far I knew the first run had to be re-priced before to go to the market. This copy would prove this single was sold in 1959 for the original price of $900!!! In labels the song titles are written in Spanish, translated to English. So, here you have the chance to own this MEGARARE single of Gene Vincent with UNIQUE GREEN CAPITOL RECORDS LABELS and by the very first time a copy which would prove this single was really released in Chile in 1959!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!!

This single doesn’t come with a cover. Record is in VG or VG+ condition both sides, it’s glossy and clean, with scuffs and light hairlines and a tiny scratch in Side B, which doesn’t affect play. Labels are in VG+ or EX- condition in both sides, clear and clean, but with some faint wear, mostly evident in the large spindle hole, text complete and fully readable, with only a name written in both sides but hard to see at first and additional mark “X” in Side B. The sound is the best part, it’s in strong EX+ or even NM- condition the Side A, loud, clear and clean, no background noise (background noise was normal in records from Chile), with only minimal soft crackles in the first and last seconds of the song, and in EX- or EX condition the Side B, almost same condition as Side A, but with more soft crackles and very light occasional clicks, which of course don’t cause any distraction from the great sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, a MEGARARE record with GREEN CAPITOL RECORDS LABELS, Spanish-written song titles and label priced in PESO only (!!!) in still a great condition, maybe not for strict Minty minds or audiophiles, but sure with still a nice look and still amazing sound quality after 57 years old which won’t disappoint anyone!!! And, yes Sirs, WHAT A FIND AGAIN!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

GBP15 for weight until 1kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending of thickness of the vinyl)

GBP25 for weight 1-2kg (usually 3-5 records 12")

GBP7 for one 7” record

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.
