Description

GENE VINCENT & THE BLUE CAPS - BLUE GENE (1999 Norton Records USA) 7-inch 4-track E.P. (EP-076) WHITE LABEL TEST PRESSING with different tracks than on the standard release!! It plays 33&1/3rpm...not 45rpm

The standard release of this E.P. contained 'My Love' (In Love Again), 'In My Dreams', 'The Night Is So Lonely' and 'Lonesome Boy' This test pressing contains the four tracks:
The recordings:  Side 1:  1. The Night Is So Lonely (demo recording made in Dallas 1958)                                                                     2. In My Dreams was recorded in Dallas in 1957. The song was re-cut for the Capitol Records version a month later.                              Side 2:  1. Hey Mama (early demo of 'Say Mama') recorded in Dallas 1958                                           2. Git It (possibly by Bob Kelly who wrote the song and recorded the original version)
The EP is a white label test pressing. Both labels are white and have no writing or marks on them. The record has no official picture sleeve. It is 'housed' in a plain white paper 45rpm cover.  The 'cover' is merely a card photo-copy of the front of the original EP standard release with the track titles added.
Condition: The E.P. record  is in EX condition...there are no spindle marks on the labels.                    Both labels are white with no marks (no signs of spindle-wear and no other marks)
This is obviously a very rare limited edition and was probably never intended as a future release.                     I have a number of rare Gene Vincent issues (Promos, test pressings etc.) coming up on eBay over the coming weeks...so, if interested, please keep watching my 'new' listings each Thursday.                                                                                       Record Gradings: I use the standard Record Collector gradings for vinyl records M (Mint): Brand new condition - no marks - cover and inserts in perfect condition EX (Excellent): Shows some signs of the record having been played but very little lessening in sound quality                          The cover might have slight wear and/or slight creasing VG (Very Good): The record has obviously been played many times. There will be some noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches.                              The sound quality may have deteriorated but the general sound is still acceptable.                              Normal wear and tear on the cover but without major defects. G (Good): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated - perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.                   The cover may suffer folding, creases, spine splits, discolouration etc. F (Fair), P (Poor), B (Bad): I do not normally put records in these grades on eBay except where the record is rare and still collectable whatever the condition.
I am not a dealer but I enjoy buying and selling on eBay as a hobby and have been doing so for over 15 years. Records are carefully packaged. For vinyl LPs I use purpose-made LP mailers with two inside card stiffeners. 45rpm singles, E.P.s are posted between two card stiffeners.
